How to Realistically Apply More Positivity

Positivity.

By definition positivity means: the practice of being or tendency to be positive or optimistic in attitude.

Your attitude. Do you live your life to be positive? And similarly, do you live each day, moment by moment, to be positive? It’s a tough question to analyze, moods can swing up and down and life can have it’s moments of triumph and tribulation. Keeping the thought of positive living in the back of your mind can change your response and reaction to the hard moments.

In my opinion, attitude is definitely something of importance, but rituals and practices are also extremely helpful to gain positivity in your life.

Take movement, for example. Movement, in many ways, triggers the brain to release serotonin. I do my best to work movement and exercise into my life at least 3x a week in order to bring a little extra serotonin to the surface. Whether that’s cycling, yoga, walking, or playing with my kids… movement brings positivity into your life when it comes in moderation.

Meditation is another key aspect of positive living (for me). I try to meditate every day, for 5 minutes if I can. This small act of self-care leaves me feeling refreshed and renewed & often happen when I’m already seated, nursing Graham. But, it’s also happened at night after a workout, or before bed (and many prefer night time! Sets you up for a positive night of sleep).

How about positivity in the HOME? If you’re looking to brighten and lighten your home a bit more, here are a few things that have worked for me to bring more positive energy into my home. Bring life into your home.

  • PLANTS- Plant life. Outdoors, in.

  • ESSENTIAL OILS- Plant life, again. You know I love to diffuse oils in my home! There are some extremely uplifting scents and oils you can add to your diffuser to bring a little brightness into the air. My recommendation is citrus scents and peppermint. Fresh and vibrant oils!

  • PHOTOS- Captured life. Experiences. Do you have photos on your walls, or framed on your shelves? If not, I think it is the loveliest thing you can do in your home. Framed photos of your loved ones, pets, places you love, moments you’ve enjoyed… every time you see that photo you’ll be brought back to a happy place.

Assume positive intent (or outcome)⠀⠀in 2019 we had our greatest blessing, and my greatest fear, all at once. Hours after having our third baby, we moved into the NICU for 2 weeks for (originally) blood sugar and found later — meconium aspiration.⠀⠀I’m always thinking about energy...why am I giving energy to this or that, bla bla. This experience helps me continue to do so. — I don’t want to waste energy. Period. — Part of this is to assume positive intent.⠀⠀Basically — (& without being s t u p i d or putting yourself in danger) assume everyone is doing G O O D. ⠀⠀Assume the outcome of a situation will be G O O D. ⠀⠀You will be more likely to get — G O O D —and you’ll have a better, less stressful ride. If someone/something does have bad intent, and I don’t need to know it, there’s no point in focusing on it. ‍♀️⠀
