End of Summer Anti-Inflammation Smoothie
In the summer, I think I make a smoothie every single day. It’s the perfect way to pack in fruits and veggies for myself (and for the kids when they steal my smoothies!). It’s also super refreshing and cooling when its 90+ degrees. It’s ALSO the easiest way to get a meal in when I am holding multiple children :)
Along with making my typical green smoothie, I like to switch it up with something sweet and spicy and anti inflammatory during the warm-warm days!
What is anti-inflammatory?
Good question. It’s a buzzword, certainly! But it is a word to describe something that helps to reduce or prevent inflammation in the body, and inflammation is the root of all disease.
Here’s a summery tropical smoothie to pack in all the anti inflammatory goodness. Especially if your summer days have been full of take out, wine and iced coffee :)
1 cup frozen mango1 frozen bananaa big big dash of turmeric + sprinkle of black pepper to activatefresh ginger (I normally do around a tbsp or 2 of chopped fresh ginger)about 1 cup of non-dairy milk of choice (I choose to do oat milk! and keep it THICK)I also like to add a sprinkle of coconut or hemp seeds - the healthy fat will also help to make the turmeric usable by your body
Throw all these goodies into your blender and blend until fully combined! Add in extra non-dairy milk as needed if you want to thin your smoothie, and add more volume for more servings! I like to enjoy this really thick with a spoon for a mid afternoon treat or even a dessert after dinner!
