Fav Baby Names for 2020!

Mom

This post is a bit later than I wanted it to be, but such is life right now. It’s almost April - I wanted to do this in January - lol. Anyway, I always remember looking through the “most popular baby names” lists and have never chosen a name from the lists, but always found them helpful to get some inspiration or rule things out.

When I chose my names for Carmen, Perry & Graham I was drawn to names (especially for the girls) that were unique and but not hard to spell. I also love the idea of including family names where possible (ex: Carmen is actually my grandfather’s name!) and I REALLY wanted to have a “PJ” (Perry’s middle name is Jane).

I will ALSO say its interesting to see what happens once your child is actually born. PJ’s name was going to be CAMILLA really until the moment she was in my arms. Now, I couldn’t imagine her being anything other than a PJ. If you know PJ - am I right?!?!?!

Anyway, however you decide to choose a name for your little one - I have done some research on what the most popular names will be this year. A lot of this data is presented by Nameberry who makes their lists based on their readers (and they tend to be more on trend than some of the more dated, old school lists out there).

The most popular names for the last two years have been Liam and Emma.

Aside from these two - I also found: Noah, Olivia, William, Ava, Sophia… they are shorter names, likely names that are passed down through families, are all very popular for the last few years and will probably stay that way.

Four letter names are also booming. Names like Mila, Cora, Luna, Leah, Lucy… are all in the popular group.

Here are are some trending girls’ names for 2020:

  1. Reese (probably because of Big Little Lies)
