The Best Mom Hacks for Summer
Honestly, I couldn’t believe some of these - and they are amazing! Luckily I stumbled upon these while browsing through the Clickher app so I can share them with you!
By the way - if you don’t know the Clickher app - you must. Clickher is powered by a diverse team of curators who search the internet and social networks to find lesser-known creators serving up the latest styles, tips, and trends. Best part: no algorithms.
So when I am looking for something (like a mom-life hack), I turn to Clickher because people are so much more powerful than algorithms at providing her ideas, tips, trends, and honestly - I get the *best* tips.
Summer Mom Hack #1: Dry shampoo gets oil stains out
I know. Somehow the amount of oil that gets on my clothes triples in the summer. And the kids - forget it! Running around to and from camp, the pool, and playgrounds, plus lots of eating outside (not on tables lol) leaves quite a mess. RIP clothes. But not with this tip!
Spraying dry shampoo on the oil stain can help to absorb the oil, just like it does in your hair. Now, there are a few things to note. Like, don’t choose a tinted dry shampoo - as this will mess with the color of your clothing. You want something pretty translucent.
Also, make sure you follow up by thoroughly brushing off the dry shampoo after application and then also washing with a cold water rinse using a high-quality detergent.
Summer Mom Hack #2: Prevent chlorine from ruining your hair at the pool
If you are in the pool a lot this summer with the kids - this tip curated by my Clickher app is so solid!
First you want to get your hair wet with *clean* water before you get in the pool. As in - do this before you even leave the house! You’ll also want to apply conditioner from your roots to the ends - and honestly, this gives your hair that chic sleek look anyway - wrap the remaining hair into a bun if it’s long. AFTER pool time - you’ll wash your hair with a detox-type shampoo of your choice (or regular if you don’t have that specifically) and use a hair mask when you’re done to further lock in nutrients!
Summer Mom Hack #3: Secure your bathing suit with this knot
I’m literally always worried that something is going to come untied at the pool - wrangling kids and not paying attention. This knot is pure gold.
Tie a loop on each side of your top - then thread them through the opposite loop and pull. Voila - your tie won’t come undone!
Summer Mom Hack #4: Keep your feet “sandal ready” all summer
IF you don’t have time for a weekly pedicure (I wish I did) - they can get pretty dry from barefoot walking and the weather. SO - I found the perfect advice for keeping my feet sandal ready all summer.
A post from Clickher showed me this weekly method (or maybe when you just notice things start to get a little snaggy - first you file your foot, then you pumice, then add a body sugar and rinse. At this point - I’d shower. After, add in vaseline or aquaphor and rub it in until fully absorbed, then a body cream, and lastly - a thick body oil to seal in the moisture.
Summer Mom Hack #5: Pick up some of these cute active dresses
I need fashion that lasts all day and I’m sure you do too. I only *really* want to change if Margot spits her pretzel out onto my shirt (because the less laundry, the better!) I love that Clickher editors put together chic activewear dresses that can help us go from the pool to the playground to coffee this weekend! Dress once, show up at multiple places.
OK, so if you’re curious to know what an algorithm-free feed looks like, with fresh content overlooked by big search engines and social networks - you have to check out the Clickher app! I don’t know about you - but I’m tired of getting filtered inspiration that fits what the algorithm thinks I need. :-P There are daily, super-curated posts that offer fashion, home, beauty, wellness, and trend inspiration without the filter. Clickher has made the process to find quick inspo super easy and puts you in charge of finding the exact content you are searching for. I love to pursue for a few minutes each week and find a new project to work on - like these summer hacks!
