3 Ways To Keep Your Skin Hydrated Heading into Spring

This post is sponsored by AVEENO®, but all opinions are my own.

If you’re not new here - you know that a huge part of what I do is look for new ways to nourish my body inside and out. (If you are new here - welcome!) I definitely noticed my skin getting drier and drier as we got deeper and deeper into the heart of winter. The coldness outside and the dry air inside is what perpetuates the situation, but luckily there are many ways to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized to head beautifully into Spring. Did you know that your skin is your largest organ?! Gotta protect and support it!

Check out my tips below!

Morning Lemon Water

One of the first things I always recommended to my clients is to drink room temperature or warm lemon water every day before anything else. Yes - even before your morning coffee! Lemon water is what gets me out of bed in the morning...and you will feel the same way once you make it a routine and start to see the benefits. It’s the best thing you can do for your body! Not only are you starting out the day with water (woo!), you’re also kickstarting your daily digestion with lemon. It’s basically a natural cleanser. I recommend lukewarm water (helps avoid killing of beneficial enzymes) with one whole lemon squeezed into it! Use a straw if you do this daily, or try to avoid direct contact with the fronts of your teeth (lemon is not the best for daily contact with your enamel) Lemon water is overall great in the morning for a digestive jumpstart to your day and providing that hydration your skin needs, especially in the winter.

Moisturize Your Home

Your skin will be thanking you in the morning if you go to sleep with a humidifier on. Keeping a humidifier in your room or around the house (we have a whole home humidifier that hooks right into our main system) can help to reduce the dryness from your heating systems and is the one of the answers to preventing dry skin. Humidifiers release moisture to get whatever space you’re using it in up to the best humidity levels (40%-60%). I love the ones that also allow you to add essential oils! You know me - crazy oil lady!

Bathtime With AVEENO®

Winding down the day with a nice bath, or shower, is some of the time I value most. My time for me with hopefully no distractions. Given the dry winter skin we’ve talked about - I’ve been looking for something super nourishing to wash with. Lately I’ve been loving the new AVEENO® Prebiotic Oat Body Wash line at Walmart! The entire collection is gentle on sensitive skin and has 98% naturally derived ingredients inside. I love that it’s from a dermatologist recommended brand and this body wash helps preserve skin' microbiome, a part of your skin's natural protective barrier, and helps preserve yours with gentle cleansing and it cleanses and nourishes skin. I’m all about that hydration right now! Not only are these products amazing for moisturizing, AVEENO® Oat is also a skin prebiotic that helps to support the growth of microorganisms in the skin microbiome. Prebiotics are actually food for microorganisms so they work hand in hand. Within skincare, prebiotics help to create a better, healthier environment for the skin’s microbiome. In short - AVEENO® Prebiotic Oat Body Wash collection is a must for maintaining moisturized skin while we say goodbye the winter and hello (so soon!) to spring.
