This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of ACME Markets. All opinions are 100% my own.
It’s safe to say, everyone is looking forward to the holiday season earlier than ever before. With Christmas just around the corner, are you making new recipes, the same recipes? Endless grocery lists? LOL One of my favorite food traditions is to set up a DIY breakfast bar to enjoy one of the mornings we have off. As the kids get older, they absolutely love the whole concept of having a “buffet” style setup at home! And even if you are doing the holidays with a super tight knit group, or even alone, this is an awesome way to extend the holiday-days. 🙂
Let me tell you how awesome it is to me now that I can buy all of the things I need from the regular grocery store. I used to have to shop at specialty stores or farmer’s markets or bop around from place to place. Anyway, most anything you need, you can find at your local ACME. This year, to avoid the crowds and chaos that the holidays bring, I am really looking forward to being able to get everything I need from one store! O Organics® is ACME’s exclusive line of 100% USDA Certified Organic products that can be incorporated into any recipe, with an assurance that it is simply just good ingredients. The O Organics’ entire brand is non-GMO, available in every aisle of the store, and quite affordable compared to other organic brands.
Those who aren’t new to my blog know that I do my best to find or create nutritious and plant-based recipes that the whole family can enjoy. That means lightening things up where no one will notice, popping in some organic options where it matters, and reducing the sugar content where I can!
So with a breakfast bar, I’m providing pretty much all great options when it comes to health. But everything is also super tasty, and I swear when you allow people to make things themselves – it makes them invested and interested in the process! This is what I do with the kids LOL.
What’s On The Breakfast Bar?
I don’t know about your family but when it comes to mine, no two people ever want or can agree on the same thing to eat. We have honestly become such fans of these breakfast bars on school day mornings because while there is definitely a little more prep than usual, at least everyone gets what they want! You’ll first have to decide your “stations” – some options are waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, eggs/tofu scramble, and breakfast sandwiches. I suggest doing just 2-3 – a sweet and a savory at the least. Also – the sweet toppings are definitely interchangeable and could be used on both bases.
This is my personal favorite part of the entire spread, because there is so much diversity! You can make a HUGE pot of overnight oatmeal in the crockpot/instapot so then all you need to do is relocate the crockpot and everyone can serve themselves! JUST SAYING, you can use the sweet toppings below, but you can ALSO get super creative and make your oatmeal savory by going with the scramble toppings instead! The amazing thing about oats is that they are a blank canvas and depending on your tastes, can be a total chameleon. You can even serve oats for lunch with savory toppings like you would with eggs – keep that in mind for those days you just don’t know what to make yourself!
Our household is addicted to waffles. We make a huge batch of homemade waffles every other week and I end up freezing most of them to use for Graham’s breakfast throughout the week. When you have a lot of mouths to fill, pre-made mixes or even a good frozen option is awesome here too. There are lots of great options now as long as you read the back ingredients 🙂
Here are some of the toppings you can include:
Chopped Roasted Cashews
Chopped Macadamia Nuts
O Organics Honey or Maple Syrup (bonus, throw some Elderberry syrup in for an interesting flavor note and immune support!)
Fresh blueberries, raspberries, sliced apples or bananas
Brown sugar/coconut sugar
Chopped dark chocolate
O Organics Cinnamon
O Organics Nutmeg
Hemp seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds
A little whipped cream never hurt anyone 🙂 And you can find plant-based options now!
Egg/Tofu Scramble Bar
We like a combination of sweet and savory, so I try to do one of each. I’m sure you know how to scramble eggs, but let me tell you that the key to success is adding a small amount of almond milk. I also love to spice it up with some paprika, garlic and onion powders. When making a tofu scramble, I like to add turmeric for color, and nutritional yeast and salt to make it taste a little cheesy.
The toppings you can include here are:
Chopped sautéed onions
ROASTED garlic – yes! It’s sweeter than regular garlic and dee-licious!
Shredded cheese or vegan cheese
Tofu or regular bacon
Diced tomatoes or store-bought salsa
Guacamole or diced avocados
Everything bagel seasoning (SO yummy on eggs)
Crushed tortilla chips for crunch
